AMD Radeon RX 7000 and Ryzen 7000 “RDNA 3” GPU Codename Details

The shady codenames of AMD’s upcoming line of RDNA 3 graphics powering the Navi 3x GPUs for Radeon RX 7000 and Ryzen 7000 have been revealed.

AMD continues aquatic fish codename trend with next-gen RDNA 3-powered Navi 3x GPUs for Radeon RX 7000 and Ryzen 7000

Today we find the remaining nicknames for the other soon to be released RDNA 3 architecture GPUs. The new names of AMD’s soon-to-be-released graphics cards are:

  • Bonito with plums (AMD Radeon RX 7900)
  • Wheathouse (AMD Radeon RX 7800 and 7700)
  • Bright pink bonefish (AMD Radeon RX 7600)
  • Sardine Pink (AMD Ryzen 7000 and AMD Radeon 700M)

These will be used internally by the company to help chart the development process for specific architectures, namely the company’s new graphics card products. With codenames for each model released in the coming months, it will also be easier for industry insiders, tech websites, enthusiasts, and more. to distinguish between the different published models. The codenames used by AMD are not for marketing purposes, as consumers will not see these names printed on the company’s and its partners’ GPU boxes.

As of May, we know that AMD’s flagship GPU Navi 31 has been given the nickname “Plum Bonito”, but no one had heard of the company’s other GPU names. Navi 32 will go by the nickname “Wheat Nas”, while Navi 33 will be named “Hotpink Bonefish”.

The AMD Ryzen 7000 APU, which was originally called “Phoenix”, will now be called “Pink Sardine”. The new APU will succeed Yellow Carp (also known as Rembrandt) and Green Sardine (also known as Cezanne).

The VideoCardz website notes that Pink Sardine has the same PCI device identifier, 0x15E2, as four other codenames – Raven Ridge, Renoir, Van Gogh and Yellow Carp. The company chooses to differentiate APUs by PCI revisions instead of creating additional identifiers for each released APU.

We haven’t seen any other AMD RDNA 3 architecture-based graphics cards mentioned yet, especially for future console chips from the company. However, since it is still relatively early in the release of the upcoming lines, it may be a few months before we get more information from AMD.
