SUNFLOWER POP: The new fragrance from Floral Street
Oh, the joy of the sunflower: the gigantic bloom is a guaranteed mood booster, and the sight of their sunny faces is a signal that summer is here. Maybe their brilliant disposition and portrayal of eternal optimism is why we love these Genus Helianthus so many.
They also tick a lot of wellness boxes: the superfood seeds sprinkled on our favorite salad and the extracted oils that can nourish skin and hair. It is even a gardener’s plant of choice for detoxifying the soil around it. But, it is aesthetically speaking that sunflowers bring the most cheerfulness.
Without a doubt, that’s why they’ve recorded over 8 million Instagram posts and have been the inspiration for countless fashion collections: think designers like Dolce & Gabbana and Alaïa to celebrity brands like Converse, cool and quirky interior businesses and art. From iconic masterpieces by Vincent Van Gogh, to bouquets of ‘sunflowers’ that are instantly recognizable and still reign supreme over a century later, to eye-catching prints you can buy now.
Michelle Feeney of UK sustainable fragrance house Floral Street has partnered with the Van Gogh Museum to bring together sunflower art and fine perfumery in an eco-friendly and sustainable way. ‘Sunflower Pop’ starting at £ 24, is a clean-formulated fragrance inspired by nature.
Feeney says: “I am honored that Floral Street has been chosen as the first fragrance brand to partner with the Van Gogh Museum. Inspired by the timeless masterpieces of Vincent van Gogh, we discovered a common love for nature and the pursuit of beauty in everyday life. Thanks to this collaboration, we are able to tell our story in a new way, in which the beauty of art and perfume meet.. ”
Floral Street’s Sunflower Pop will present notes of bergamot, a bellini accord and a touch of honey in a vibrant citrus-centric spritz. This will give the wearer a feeling of “optimism” as Van Gogh envisioned from his palette all those years ago. And the artist’s print will not only adorn the outer packaging but the bottle itself.
The poet Rupi Kaur once said: “Although they know they won’t be around for long, they still choose to live their brightest life – sunflowers.”
Isn’t that something we can all learn from? Carpe diem, whether captured in a bottle, sprayed on the skin, printed on fabric or worn as a talisman, can help us present our most positive selves …
