HUNDREDS of visitors are likely to flock to Lacock this weekend as the village celebrates the welcome return of its annual Scarecrow Trail.
This year’s adult theme is ‘Best of British’ and the children’s theme is ‘Animals’. There will be over 50 scarecrows scattered around the village for visitors to find.
Most of the scarecrows were constructed with materials provided by the Wiltshire Scrapstore charity, based in the village.
The organizers have set up a main trail and a children’s trail on the roads around the idyllic National Trust village which often stars in major Hollywood blockbusters such as the Harry Potter series.
They said, “We have fun inflatables, refreshments, a homemade cake stand and barbecue, as well as ice cream to help visitors stay cool in hot weather.
“It will be a great day out for the whole family, with fantastic prizes offered. All ages are welcome.
The trail takes place today and tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There is no need to reserve and trail sheets will be on sale at the National Trust parking lot.
It was organized by the Friends of Lacock CofE Primary School and the proceeds from the sale of the trail sheets will go to the school which has only 80 students.
